MBA Rankings
Every year, there are a number of organizations are doing MBA rankings of programs worldwide. Some of the common basis are top schools for traditional or full-time MBA, part-time MBA, accelerated MBA, and executive MBA. Business Week has been conducting executive MBA ranking and MBA university rankings for quite a number of years now. The results of the ranking is released between October and November every even year. The result of 2010's ranking is still on-going and will be published within two months.
Business Week considers a number of eligibility statistics to conduct their MBA school ranking. Among the criteria are age of MBA program, enrollment, test scores, acceptance rates, and number of international and minority students, among the many others. They use student survey, survey of corporate recruiters, and intellectual capital rating as their ranking sources. Student surveys are distributed to the schools three weeks before graduation for three consecutive months. All other questions are on the survey except the one that measures the intellectual capital. Businessweek.com also asks schools about their programs.
Online surveys will be sent to students through email. The survey may consists of around 40-45 questions asking the students to rate the school's teaching quality, career services, alumni network, recruiting efforts, and the like. The recruiter survey on the other hand, is being sent to various headhunting agencies. They will be asked to indicate twenty schools they are actively recruiting from.
The intellectual capital is measured differently. Business Week obtains the top 20 academic journals for the past five years and checks for articles published by the school's faculty. Extended articles will be given three points and short articles one point. They also check The New York Times and The Wallstreet Journal for books reviews. Books written by faculty members get five points.
After statistical analysis, Business Week will release the list of top 30 MBA programs in their magazine. Those ranked after the 30th spot are being displayed on their website instead.
